A comic fantasy about two friends and a thoroughly ridiculous splash routine.
Kevin followed a mysterious splashing behind the lily pads, expecting another fish. Instead, he found turquoise scales, emerald eyes and a grin almost as mischievous as his own. The water dragon introduced himself as Wally.
“I have heard about you,” Wally said. Kevin was not sure whether that was a compliment. Judging by the dragon’s grin, it was probably a promising start.
"Hello there, Kevin! Fancy meeting a fish as daring as you!" exclaimed Wally, wagging his tail in delight.
Kevin swam closer, his fins quivering with excitement. "Well, hello, Wally! I've never met a Water Dragon before. What brings you to our humble pond?"
Wally chuckled and replied, "I was exploring the forest when I stumbled upon this charming oasis. The enchanting tales of your adventures reached my ears, and I couldn't resist making your acquaintance."
From that moment on, Kevin and Wally became inseparable companions, embarking on all sorts of escapades. They raced through the water, creating whirlpools that made the lily pads spin. They splashed and somersaulted, sending shimmering droplets flying through the air. Their laughter echoed throughout the forest, attracting a curious audience of woodland creatures.
One day, Kevin and Wally hatched a hilarious plan. They decided to prank their fellow pond dwellers by playing a game of "Dragon Splash." Kevin would leap out of the water, pretending to be a flying fish, while Wally would unleash a powerful spray from his mouth, mimicking a water cannon.
As Kevin soared into the air, he shouted, "Look out below! It's raining fish!" The other fish stared in disbelief as Kevin landed back in the pond with a tremendous splash. Meanwhile, Wally aimed his water cannon, unleashing a torrential downpour that soaked everyone nearby.
For a moment, the others stared at the drenched gathering. Then one fish laughed, another joined in, and Wally bowed so deeply that he splashed himself. The audience declared that the best part of the show.
Their adventures became the stuff of legends, spreading far and wide. Soon, ponds and lakes all across the land echoed with tales of the fearless koi fish and the wacky Water Dragon, leaving everyone in stitches of laughter.
Kevin and Wally kept inventing routines, but nothing quite matched the first Dragon Splash. Whenever Wally bowed, somebody shouted, “Look out below!” Kevin insisted it was a sign of artistic recognition.
