A magical fable about three trapped companions finding a route toward the light.
Sakura could see a circle of daylight far above the well. It was small, bright and out of reach. Her scales caught the little light that reached the bottom, but the koi wanted more than a glimpse of the world beyond.
In the beginning, Sakura's world was limited to the narrow confines of the well. The light above was a mere glimmer, obscured by the distance she had fallen. Nevertheless, Sakura remained determined to find a way out of her bleak situation. With each passing day, she summoned her strength and tenacity, refusing to succumb to despair.
As Sakura swam in the depths of the well, she encountered fellow creatures who had also found themselves trapped. There was a curious frog named Hiroshi and a wise turtle named Kameko. Though confined, they shared stories, dreams, and hopes of a life beyond their current circumstances. Together, they vowed to support one another on their arduous journey.
Sakura, fueled by her resilient spirit, embarked on a quest for freedom. She spent countless hours swimming tirelessly, honing her strength and agility. As she swam, Sakura noticed the minuscule rays of light that managed to penetrate the well's darkness. They offered a glimmer of hope, a reminder that there was a world beyond their confinement.
Together they found narrow ledges hidden in the well’s walls. In that magical place, a ribbon of water climbed beside them. Hiroshi tested each step, Kameko steadied the others, and Sakura led the way from one little pool to the next.
At the final ledge, they reached the well’s opening and a channel leading into a sunlit pond. Sakura slipped through first, then turned to wait for Hiroshi and Kameko. Beyond the shadows, the water seemed to stretch forever.
Sakura, overcome with joy, gracefully glided through the water, her vibrant colors reflecting the newfound freedom that enveloped her. Hiroshi and Kameko joined her, relishing in their liberation from the darkness of the well.
Word of Sakura's incredible journey spread throughout the village, captivating the hearts of its inhabitants. They marveled at the tale of the koi who had overcome the greatest of obstacles. Sakura's resilience and unwavering spirit served as an inspiration to all who heard her story, reminding them that even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of hope, waiting to guide them to the light.
Later, whenever Sakura looked up through the pond’s open surface, she remembered the tiny circle of light. It had been enough to begin looking for a way out. She was grateful that she had not had to find that way alone.
