Doitsu Hariwake are metallic koi with a platinum-colored ground, yellow or orange markings, and reduced scaling. Many examples sold under this name have yellow patterning, as in the photograph here. Doitsu refers to scale arrangement; it does not mean that every individual must lack every scale.

Compare Kikusui for the closely related red or orange-red metallic Doitsu description. Names overlap in hobby use, so ask how a seller distinguishes the fish rather than relying only on the label. Yamabuki Ogon is solid metallic yellow, not a yellow-and-white patterned koi.
Choosing and Observing Doitsu Hariwake
Look for clean contrast between the ground and colored pattern, along with luster visible on the head and sides. Do not assume extra sunlight will restore or deepen the yellow on a schedule. Compare the same individual over time under similar lighting. Suitable stable care matters more than manipulating sun exposure to chase a particular photographed shade.
